Delete your Homey account

Homey is a shared household app — a shopping list, a family calendar, a dinner plan and saved recipes. This page explains how to delete your account and everything held under it, whether or not you still have the app installed.

If you still have the app

This is the quickest route, and it takes effect immediately.

  1. Open Homey and sign in.
  2. Tap your name or initial in the top corner to open You.
  3. Scroll to Delete your account and tap Delete account.
  4. Read the warning. It names every household that will be destroyed and says how many other people will lose it.
  5. Confirm. Your account and its data are deleted straight away.

If you no longer have the app

Email us from the address you signed up with, so we can be sure the request is yours. Write nothing else — we do not need a reason.

Email a deletion request

Or write to juamandudz1590@gmail.com with the subject Delete my Homey account. We will confirm and complete it within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

What happens to your household

A household you are the only keyholder of is deleted along with you. Everything in it goes permanently, for everyone in it: the shopping list and its items, the calendar, the dinner plan and the saved recipes. This cannot be undone and there is no grace period.

A household nobody owns could never be renamed, handed on or cleared up again, so Homey does not leave one standing. If you want a household to outlive your account, make somebody else a keyholder before you delete it — then the household stays exactly as it is, and only your name leaves it.

Where a household does survive, the things you added stay on it. An item you put on the shopping list is still there for the people still shopping; it simply stops saying it was you who added it.

What is deleted

Your account Email address, password hash and sign-in — deleted outright.
Your profile Display name and avatar — deleted outright.
Your memberships Every record of which households you belonged to — deleted outright.
Households you solely owned The household and all of its lists, items, calendar entries, dinners and recipes — deleted outright.
Households that survive you Kept, because they belong to the people still in them. What you added stays; your name is removed from it.

Nothing is retained after deletion for Homey's own purposes. There are no adverts, no analytics and no third-party tracking in the app, so there is no profile of you held anywhere else to delete. Ordinary encrypted database backups may hold a copy for up to 30 days before they age out; they are never read except to recover from failure.
